Week 36: Education Funding and Policy Online Gathering

On September 6 we examined the issues around education funding and policy in schools severing Palestinian children in Palestine, Israel, and the refugee camps. We were joined by Samia Khoury and Abla Nasir of Rawdat El-Zuhur.

More about our guests:

Samia Khoury has been an active community volunteer worker throughout most of her life. She is a founding member of the Board of Trustees of Birzeit University and Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Centre. She earned recognition from local NGOs and a citation of merit award from the alumni association of Southwestern University.

Abla Nasir retired from an illustrious career in education, administration, and institutional governance. She was the National General Secretary of the YWCA of Palestine. She also held positions at Tamer Institute for Community Education as General Director, and at the Friends’ Schools in Ramallah as Counselor and later Principal of the Friends Girls School. She holds an EdM in Counseling Processes and Psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She received her BA in Developmental Psychology and Education from Beirut University College in Lebanon (now known as Lebanese American University LAU). She is now part of Sabeel’s General Assembly.
