This evening featured a number of Palestinian artists and musicians, including poet Samia Khoury, members of the musical group al Rua’, Tania Nasir reading the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish, and Dr. Pauline Coffman, coordinator of the Seraj Libraries Project.

The gathering featured the Rev. Naim Ateek and Cedar Duabyis, co-founders of Sabeel, Budour Hasan of the Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center, and Adv. Raffoul Rofa, the director of the Society of St. Yves. They taught us about the effects of occupation on Jerusalem, and what is being done and what can be done about it.

Jeff Halper is an Israeli anthropologist, the head of the Israel Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD), and the author of War Against the People: Israel, the Palestinians and Global Pacification. He let us know what can be done to help stop the use of home demolitions as a form of collective punishment. He was joined by ICAHD UK director Linda Ramsden and Awdah al-Hathleen from Umm al-Khair.
